15/5/08. Garden macro moths life list now 203.

27/9/07. Garden macro moths total now 137 for 2007, including 33 new species. Garden macro moth life list now 198. Micro moths total for my garden is 42.

13/7/06. Garden macro moths total for 2007 now 114, including 27 new species. Garden life list now 192. Most notable new ones are Slender Brindle, Gold Spangle, Small Yellow Wave, Phoenix, Small Rivulet.

1/7/06. Garden macro moths total for 2007 now 100, including 23 new species. Garden life list now 188. Most notable new one is a Green arches.

16/2/07. 8 Lesser Redpoll on my Niger seed feeder.

29/10/06. 8 Whooper Swans on Ashworth Moor Reservoir, Rochdale. Images on Birds 4

16/10/06. 3 Ring Ouzels at Naden Dean, Rochdale, Kingfisher at Lords Wood pond Hopwood, Rochdale. Short-eared owl seen at Ashworth moor reservoir and a passing flock of 6 Golden plover just before dusk.

11/10/06. Streak moth caught last night. This is a rarity for Lancashire. Images on Moths 13. Also caught for the first time Red-line Quaker.

8/10/06 Moths update, 144 species caught so far in my garden in Norden this year. This includes 58 new species from when I started mothing last year. My garden total is now 163. 

7/10/06 Male Hen Harrier over the north end of Watergrove reservoir all afternoon. Gained height and appeared to fly off at 4.00pm. This is extremely rare in the Rochdale area. Exceptional views but too dull for Photos.

4/10/06 Short-eared Owl hunting over fields on the south-side of Ashworth Moor reservoir at dusk.

31/8/06. A pair of Bullfinches feeding on Niger seed have been in my garden every day this week. Another regular visitor is a Great Spotted Woodpecker.

22/8/06 Moths update, 133 species caught so far in my garden in Norden this year. This includes 56 new species from when I started mothing last year. My garden total is now 161.  Several moths caught in Cambridgeshire 19-2-/8-06 have been added to the general moths section (Moths 2)

16/8/06. Been on holiday in Ireland, took a portable moth trap and caught 72 species. Other highlights were 12 dolphins in Dingle bay, Leach's storm petrels, and a Ring billed gull. I will make reports later this month. Loads of new photos to sort out.

17/7/06. Moth update, 119 species caught so far in my garden in Norden this year. This includes 47 new species from when I started mothing last year. My garden total is now 152.
