Extremadura, Spain 2008.

All photos taken during the first week of April.

A fantastic week staying at the Finca Santa Marta near Trujillo. I can fully recommend the Finca as a base for exploring Extremadura. Its close to the Plains of Belen and only 45 minutes from Monfrague. The grounds of the Finca provide at least 20 birds, including White Storks, Hoopoe and Serins, We easily clocked up 100 bird species in 4 days as well as many butterflies.

There are many guide books for exploring Extremadura but I can recommend a birdwatching guide to Extremadura by John Muddeman (soon to be published as a revised 2nd edition by Arelquin Press). Its really easy to fly to Madrid and hire a car. 3 hours later you are in Extremadura.

Click on the Finca for more information.
